Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson with me would be me getting to know the player and what the need help with. So I would go over a few skills and drills from shooting to agility and cardio and I’ll put it on a data sheet . Critique them in small ways allowing them to see a glimpse of what it would be training with me.
Lesson 11+This is where the player will not only learn my character but feel comfortable with me. This is where I will be coaching the players in all aspects they will be able to work every position and with good agility. This is where the player will see a full turn around in their game. I want players to not only understand that they have improved but feel confident in using these skills in a game.
Lesson 4-10This is where things would speed up . At this point we would be used to starting the lesson by warming up then going into what the player is used to . Then immediately going into drills and skill work the player lacks. Then we would move into game like drills so I can see how to the player is reacting and that would tell me if I need to adjust the training more or less.
Lesson 2-3The second lesson would typically be us going over the things the player lacks . I would demonstrate what the need to do adjustments their lacks and consistently mark the data sheet on what they are improving on. I would also create a sheet for next lesson of at home workouts n drills they can do on their own. This lesson will be where the player will understand the type of trainer I am but not at full speed.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson would be the player and coach introduction . Then it would be me seeing there stats going over drills and skills movement seeing where there need help. Whether is something small like left hand skill or cardio.
Lesson 11+By these lessons the player will be used to warming up and immediately hoping into compatible drills. At this point the player will be working and pushing to their own goals. We would be doing hard core game like drills with defensive tools like pushing pads . The training session will consist of 3 major things , the player doing burnout drills focusing on getting tired and not lacking in the game . Second the player will get their alone time ( which is why I said headphones if wanted) cause there will be moments where the player will be doing 100-200 shots and such. Third the player will continue to do drills and skill work that apply to their needed skill but the drills at this point would be more difficult yet adjustable . This is where I want my player to be confident in their game and see their improvement from all angles.
Lesson 4-10This lesson would consist of major steps applying to the players lack. For example if the player is lacking basketball cardio. We will be spending almost half of the training doing dribbling work shuffle work latitude and longitude work and up and down the court with opposing defenders. Of course the training will consist of breaks cause it is important to give your player water breaks just like in the game. The other half of the session will be us applying those drills in game like situations seeing if there’s anything else I should add. By the end of these sessions I will bring leg rollers for the players to take home and I will show them stretches and exercises to do . At this point I will have sheet of at home workout and stretches I want the player to do that would help with their muscles.
Lesson 2-3Lesson 2-3 would be us hoping right into the skills and drills after warm ups. Within the drills I will be critiquing and adjusting things within the player that could be better or different. At the end of the lesson it would be a conversation where we discuss their potential and their will to push . I would show them where we would work on next time . I would also be making a data stats sheet of the athletes skills.
Youth players
Working with kidsI’ve been working with children for the last two years . With younger kids their attention span is short therefor I will not be aggressive when they tend to wander off I would just adjust to their wandering. I like to be patient with younger children allowing them to be a child of course and still learn the sport. Between session I will be slow and calm with children allowing them to play games like knock out or talk to me then gradually move right back into the training
Working with teenagersI’ve worked with teenagers from the last 2 years. When working with teenagers their body’s are not at their fullest potential yet they might think they are . I would consistently push them allowing them to grow to their full potential while maintaining healthiness. Teenagers can have an attitude sometimes and that is something I am used to . With children and teenagers I do allow them to have their space without being aggressive with them . However I will gradually hope back into the lesson reminding them that we are on a time limit which usually gets them to hop back up.
What you need to bringBasketball shoes and water bottle ( head phones if they want)
