I have a lifetime a drills and games for all ages and stages. Both of my parents were coaches and ran the local camps. The first session will start with ball handling drills and free throws, then shooting off the dribble and lastly a look at the layup package. This will allow a full assessment of skills and fundamentals.
From this point it is all about efficiency. Working smarter not harder with our dribbles. This is where we work on advanced footwork concepts and defensive reads.
If interested we can analyze game film and enhance bball IQ.
Introduce more 2 man style game, reading and using screens, passing in traffic, etc.
After the concepts are clear, we fine tune and hone in on footwork within ball handling.
We introduce change in speed, change in elevation and change in direction.
We will introduce work in jabs, rips and spin moves with the premise being creating distance to let the other skills shine.
For shooting we also focus on gather and release to create a higher percentage shooter.
My Secret Sauce:
I focus heavily on ball handling IQ based on 3 rules and 3 moves. Upon mastery of those we work in combos.
I introduce the 5 points of shooting with 2 rules, never miss left or right, and never miss short. This creates an accurate shot and increases rebounding IQ.
The starter sessions are enough alone to take a significant amount of information home and to your own development sessions.
