Beginner training plan
Your first trainingFirst , I keep it real basic and just talk for the first 5 minutes. Get a sense of your level of play, mindset, passion, etc. Based off that conversation I will see how to move forward with our session.
Training 2-3These lessons will depend on you. If we are progressing at a steady pace, we will slowly advance. However we will not move on until the skill being taught has been understood.
Training 4-10By this point we should have made lots of progress, and you should be comfortable playing against others and testing certain skills we have worked on together.
Training 11+The confidence and skill level should have increased dramatically since our first session. At this point you should be comfortable playing against different skill levels. I can also connect you with further skill development opportunities, as well as camps if you wish to pursue your skills even further.

Youth players
Working with kidsIt depends on the age group, however I have worked with ages from 4 all the way to 13. So I have found several methods to adapt for each student.

Working with teenagersMy primary age group I have worked with has been from 4 to 13 so I would love the opportunity to work with more advanced students.

What you need to bringJust yourself and the passion to learn! If you ever do need to bring something specific I will contact you beforehand.

What I can bringI have ladders, balls, resistance bands, it just depends what you want to work on. If we build a good relationship, I also don't mind going out of my way to get new equipment. I do it for my students at school all the time.

I love playing basketball, but I never played for a team before. I play at lunch recess all the time, it's my favorite sport. So when tryouts came I wanted to try my luck. I made the team and was so happy, but I didn't get too play that much im the 1st games. I did really good in practice, but sometimes I would get too nervous to play in the games. Coach Karrie would play with me after-school and slowly build confidence in my skills. Then Coach Karrie started keeping me in the games longer. I realized it was just basketball and that I love to play. Slowly I got more and more comfortable and I actually made some shots in the game! I am happy I keep trying and that Coach Karrie believed I could be better.

I love Coach K, she made me have alot of confidence this year. I made a promise to be more athletic and try more sports this year so I tried out for every team. When I made the basketball team I was so happy! I told Coach K that I wanted to be captain too, and she told me if I work hard , try my best, and be a good teammate, that I can do it. By the 1st game Coach K told us who the captains were and I was one of them! I was so happy!

I never played basketball before, but I wanted to try something new. My cousin wanted to join the team so I wanted to play with her too. At first I was not too good, also I am a little short so it was hard to make shots. But Coach Karrie stayed longer after practice and would play with me and let me try things out with her. She would not try her hardest but she would play against me to test me. I love playing basketball now and can make lots of shots!

This was my first year playing for a team because you have to be in 5th grade to play sports in elementary. But I did play at lunch recess all the time. So I thought I would tryout for the team. I learned right away I had a lot to learn. On the 1st day of tryouts Coach Karrie asked us to get into lay up lines and nobody knew what a lay up was. So Coach Karrie slowed everything down for us until we understood the basics. Then we were able to move on to more advanced stuff, but I'm glad I know what a lay up is now, thanks Coach Karrie !

Coach Karrie came to my school as a coach and taught us basketball. At the beginning I was not too good, I also did not think I was. But Coach Karrie told me things to make me play better and now I like playing basketball and am good at it!
