About your basketball coach
Eric Acosta is an LA-based drummer, basketball coach, and lifelong learner with a passion for teaching. He's been playing drums since age 5, touring the U.S. and Canada in punk bands, and still plays regularly. As a coach at Elevo Learning, he's worked with K–6th graders, led PE, and coached basketball at Hillside Middle School in Simi Valley. He works with all ages and specializes in building real foundational confidence.

Your first lessonBasketball: Ball handling and shooting mechanics. Drums: Establish rhythm and recognizing drum sounds.
Lesson 4-10Basketball: understand spacing, and game speed.
Drums. Incorporate bass drum, start to train hands and feet to separate.
Lesson 2-3Basketball: Add movement to the mechanics.
Drums: find the snare beat.

Working with kidsKids respond to encouragement more than adults. It’s important to find the positives, even in mistakes, so they feel like they’re improving and the work is paying off.
Working with teenagersWith teens, I tend to make things a bit more competitive. Winning/succeeding can drive teens to work harder.

What I can bringFor Basketball I provide all equipment as well as the outdoor park location. For drums, I have a full set in the home garage.
