About your basketball coach
My name is Colin Glavas, and I've always had a passion for basketball. I have played for elite organizations like Boo Williams and Team Loaded throughout my high school career. In my hometown, I helped run basketball camps for elementary, middle, and high school students, and trained many local kids in my neighborhood. I also spent a year as an assistant coach for Hampton Roads Academy. I was an assistant for both the middle school and varsity boys teams.

Working with kidsWhen I work with kids, I always try to be positive and engaging. I would focus on teaching all the fundamentals first and help the kid develop a strong base skillset. I would mix in games and challenges in order to make the lessons fun as well. I would also suggest things for them to do outside of the lesson, like watch a game or their favorite player’s highlights, to help increase their passion for the game.
Working with teenagersWhen I work with teenagers, I would start with a solid fundamental warmup, as fundamentals are important at any level, then move into more advanced drills based on skill level. I would be encouraging and affirming when they do something right, however, I would also be more competitive and critical with them to ensure skill development.
What you need to bringStudents should also bring their own basketball if able.
What I can bringI can bring a men’s basketball, cones, agility ladder, weighted basketball.
