In our first session, we’ll keep it simple but effective. We’ll start with some light ball-handling drills to get you comfortable with the ball — focusing on control, staying low, and using both hands. Then we’ll work on basic 1-2 step layups from both sides to make sure your footwork and form are solid. This session also gives me a chance to see where your skill set is at, so I can understand what you’re good at and what we need to work on. From there, I’ll build a plan to help you get better every time you step on the court.
By this point, you’ll have the basics down and we’ll start focusing on refining your skills and basketball IQ. Expect more advanced ball-handling combos, finishing moves around the rim, and shooting off the dribble. We’ll work on reading defenses, making quicker decisions, and improving your conditioning. I’ll also introduce team concepts like spacing, passing, and playing within a system to prepare you for real game situations. The goal is to make you a confident, well-rounded player who can compete at the next level.
In lessons 4 and 5, we’ll start adding more moves and skills to your game. You’ll learn how to use change-of-pace dribbles and simple crossovers to create space. We’ll focus on improving your shooting form with basic jump shots and free throws. Defensively, you’ll start practicing stance and footwork to stay in front of your opponent. These sessions are about building confidence with more tools and understanding both offense and defense better.
Now that I’ve seen where your game is at, we’ll start building on the basics. In lessons 2 and 3, we’ll go deeper into ball-handling with more advanced control drills, combo moves, and working under pressure. We’ll tighten up your layups, work on finishing through contact, and introduce basic footwork for scoring — like jab steps and triple threat positioning. It’s about getting you more comfortable handling the ball, finishing strong, and reading the court with confidence.
This session is all about taking your game to the next level. We’ll start with advanced ball-handling drills to improve your speed, control, and ability to break defenders down. You’ll work on combo moves like hesitation, crossover, and behind-the-back dribbles. Then we’ll focus on finishing with contact — using both hands to score under pressure. Finally, we’ll add in some shooting off the dribble and pulling up from mid-range. This lesson sets the tone for advanced skills and game-speed work.
At this stage, we focus on perfecting your individual skills while integrating advanced team concepts. You’ll work on mastering your go-to moves and developing counters to common defenses. We’ll dive deep into reading the game—anticipating opponent’s moves, making split-second decisions, and controlling the tempo. Shooting workouts will challenge your range, accuracy, and consistency under fatigue. Defense will focus on leadership, communication, and locking down the best scorers. Conditioning and mental training become critical, so we incorporate drills that build endurance, focus, and resilience. This level is about preparing you to dominate on any court and be a true leader on your team.
Over these sessions, we’ll continue sharpening your skills and expanding your basketball IQ. You’ll master advanced moves like jab-step variations, euro-step finishes, and quick decision-making off the dribble. Shooting drills will focus on consistency from beyond the arc and clutch free throws under pressure. We’ll incorporate game-like situations, including pick-and-roll execution, spacing, and off-ball movement. Defensively, you’ll develop techniques for switching, closeouts, and reading opponents’ tendencies. Conditioning and mental toughness drills will help you stay sharp and competitive from start to finish. The goal is to prepare you fully for high-level competition with a complete skill set and smart mindset.
In these sessions, we’ll build on the advanced ball-handling skills by adding more complex moves like the spin, step-back, and in-and-out dribble. You’ll work on improving your footwork to create space and increase your shooting range with consistent pull-up jumpers. We’ll also introduce situational drills that simulate game pressure—making quick decisions, reading defenders, and attacking the basket with confidence. Defense-wise, we’ll focus on advanced footwork, positioning, and anticipation to become a lockdown defender.
