Weeks 10-12: Putting it all together
Focus: Combining all skills in a game-like environment, emphasizing teamwork and game application.
Drills:
Full-court drills: Dribbling, passing, and finishing at the basket in a full-court setting.
Situational plays: Setting up and running basic offensive and defensive plays.
Game Application:
3-on-3 games: Focusing on applying skills with and without the ball.
Full-court scrimmage: Playing a full game with an emphasis on the skills practiced throughout the 12 weeks.
Weeks 4-6: Shooting and layups
Focus: Building proper shooting form and layup techniques.
Drills:
Layup progression: Dribble, two-footed layup, and one-handed layup drills from both sides of the basket.
Form shooting: Shooting close to the basket, focusing on technique before distance.
Jump shot practice: Gradually increasing the distance of the jump shot, potentially with a defender.
Game Application: "Knockout" game, partner shooting games, or a "21" ladder game in pairs.
Weeks 7-9: Defense, footwork, and strategy
Focus: Improving defensive positioning, quickness, and basic team strategy.
Drills:
Defensive shuffles: Full-speed defensive shuffles and slides without the ball.
Footwork: Lunge technique and squat jumps for lower body strength.
Passing and defense: Practicing passing and moving into a defensive stance to contest passes.
Game Application: Modified half-court games where players focus on defensive positioning and communication.
