Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI get to the player and their parents/guardians. I will ask questions such as why do you want coaching and what areas are you looking to improve. From there I will look for strengths and weaknesses to developed plan to develop them as a total pitcher.
Lesson 11+By this point we are looking for less instruction and more action. I give the player a chance to make mistakes so they can figure how to be successful with what they have learned.
Lesson 4-10Here is when we start to develop memory recall and become comfortable with how we throw. Taking pieces of learned skills and applying them on the go.
Lesson 2-3Clear instructions and a consistent workload. I believe overnight fixes are hard to come by, so we may not find the answer right away. Pitching well consistently is all about mentality and being adaptive. Somedays one thing work, and somedays they don’t. The key is being aware of these changes and developing the tools to be good when we are not at our best.

What you need to bringProper shoes (turfs, basketball shoes when inside), gloves, water or water jug.

What I can bringRadar gun, plyo balls, 9-pocket, baseballs, bands.

About your baseball coach

After a long season of pitching at the professional level, I get right in to my off-season training. Part of which consists of identifying things I did well, and things I can work on to make myself better. When I give lessons to aspiring pitchers, that focus is the same. I work consistently with parents and kids to develop a goal that we’re all confident in and push towards making positive changes that will help them in the future. I take pitching lessons very seriously because I know that what I’ve learned has greatly helped me in my career, and I want to pass it on to the next generation of athletes.

I’ve worked with Coach Engler for years, and I can say confidently he’s one of the best pitching coaches out there. His background as a professional baseball player shows in everything he teaches. He breaks down mechanics in a way that’s simple to understand, and He helps you build on your strengths with adjustments that feel natural and easy to apply. What really sets him apart is how well he teaches. He’s patient, clear with his explanations, and knows how to communicate with pitchers at any skill level. Every lesson feels intentional, and you walk away actually understanding WHY you’re doing something, not just what to do. If you’re seeking true development, a coach who knows the game, and someone who genuinely cares about helping players get better, Coach Engler is the one you want. Highly recommend.
