About your baseball coach

As a Collegiate Baseball Player who began playing at 7 years old baseball has been my passion for my whole life as long as I remember. I love spreading this to younger players who share the same fire as me and love to push themselves and their limits. It’s such a privilege to spread the beauty of the game to the younger generation and most import teach kids to play the right way. I began giving 1 on 1 youth lessons about two years ago and love to see the positive results just as much as you!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonJust watch how they hit/field. Tell the player to just play so I can see how they naturally move and what their technique and patterns look like. I’m not trying to change the player I’m trying to build their strengths and address their weaknesses.
Lesson 11+Everything continues on from previous work. New habits or tendencies may arise that we may want to either eliminate or build on depending what those may be. But by this point I’ll be very comfortable with the player and their skill set and from here it will be about reps and attention to detail.
Lesson 4-10I will be giving 100% effort to help the player get better. I love to see in game results both as a player and a mentor so I understand. We’re gonna attack the points we pinned in the first couple lessons and in a couple weeks hopefully we’ll be seeing good adjustments being made.
Lesson 2-3Basic Drills to start off again as we did in the first session and some conversation about what we saw and went over in the first session. Tell the player my plan what I think we should work on and ask the player what they feel they need to improve as well.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAdvanced players typically know their swing, fielding mechanics etc. By advanced I mean college or college ready players. With this in mind, the first lesson I really just want to see their patterns and areas they thrive, along with the weaknesses. After that we work from there.
Lesson 11+By this point we’ll be in full stride, confidence will be building every day. I’ll always add in new drill to challenge the player and isolate their weaknesses. Really making sure that we’re training outside of their comfort zone while also continuing to bolster the areas the player is strongest.
Lesson 4-10We’ll have a pretty good relationship by now. Maybe new habits arise as they typically do with baseball players. Every day we are just trying to be the most consistent hitter and fielder that we can be. Consistency keeps players on the field and moving up to higher levels at the end of the day.
Lesson 2-3We’ve identified the areas the player wants to grow. We had a conversation in the first lesson they told me why kind of player they are and where they think they need to improve. I’ll give my input as well and we’ll work from there.

Youth players
Working with kidsReally basic technique. As a young player understanding how to get the barrel to the baseball is the most important. Simple drills to start habits of clean and efficient bat paths, fielding mechanics etc are really what a young player needs. As well as conversation so that they understand what they are doing and why it’s effective. I also think it’s very important to not try and change their swing drastically. A lot of young players naturally swing pretty well because they haven’t learned any habits yet and their body does what it naturally thinks it needs to do to swing hard and direct, which they should build on and embrace rather than try and change it to fit a certain mold early.

Working with teenagersTeenagers, especially in today’s game, will face a wide range of talent. So, it’s important to understand your strengths and weaknesses so that in a game, you aren’t trying to do too much or be a player that you aren’t. Really want to emphasize good mechanics because this is typically where a player can lose them, especially when they are trying to impress scouts, other coaches and so on.

John
Paul worked with me over the summer during my college offseason. He helped center me in just backspinning the baseball, keeping a simple approach and trusting the technique and my natural swing to provide the results. He brings a multidimensional side to coaching that brings in both the mental side and the physical side to hitting and succeeding. This is a valuable skill and translates to all ages/skillsets.
Gerardo
Paul helped me in the offseason before my first college season. He identify strengths in my swing path while also put me through drills that exposed my weakness as well. Hammered in the importance of training outside of the comfort zone and my in game results proved it. I got to college and my confidence was though the roof.
Landen
Paul is a great person to work with. He brings the mindset of a current player and up to date hitting philosophy. His passion for the game speaks through his teaching, doesn’t try to change the players’ swing and understands how to communicate effectively even to myself as an advanced college player.
Jonathan
Paul helped me a lot offensively this season. We took a few lessons and he helped me hone my skills as a great contact hitter. I’ve never felt this confident in my swing and I never feel over matched at the plate. Nothing better for the price!
Nick
In a few lessons with Paul, he helped me simplify my approach at the plate to find more success. He understood that working with a college player like me the groundwork was there and gave me mental advice that was just as helpful as technical points. Would recommend.
