Beginner training plan
Your first lessonEase into personalized instruction, wanting more to get a baseline of the athlete’s skill & experience, & begin building a positive relationship with the athlete. For a pitcher, I would lead them through a full stretch & warmup routine, some catch play, & if comfortable, a bullpen session.
Lesson 11+Simulated innings, pitch sequencing, mental training.
Lesson 4-10For a pitcher, we would be training their mechanics, emphasizing properly utilizing the lower body for generating power & better mobility. Depending on age/skill level, working on off speed grips to build a strong repertoire.
Lesson 2-3Instruction with emphasis on the proper warmup & cooldown exercises to help prevent injury & fatigue buildup. Introducing different ways to train throwing as well, with football throws & drills.
