Welcome to the Sandlot! My name is Arthur B., and I am the Head Coach and Director for the King of Kings Baseball Club in Renton, WA. The King of Kings Baseball Club is a No-Cost Youth Baseball Program that serves the Benson Hill Community of Renton, WA. Our Baseball Club is registered and insured through P.O.N.Y. (Protect. Our. Nations. Youth.). Funds raised from private lessons and field reservations go towards our No-Cost Youth Baseball Program. The King of Kings Baseball Club owns the baseball field and all of the necessary equipment that allows us to provide high-quality private lessons and field use for both practices and games. We have years of experience coaching P.O.N.Y. Baseball - ages: Pinto (7 & 8), Mustang (9 & 10), Bronco (11 & 12), Pony (13 & 14), Colt (15 & 16), and Palomino (17 & 18). Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson always includes a meeting to find out what the goals of the athlete are. Then, the training plan will be developed to meet those specific goals. We will start with stretching and warming up the arm, followed by individual needs which could include outfield, infield, pitching, catching, baseball running etc. I will try to finish off the lesson with some batting practice - which is always fun
Lesson 11+I would like to challenge the athlete at this time. For hitting, we will certainly be using the pitching machine and experiencing different types of pitches with increasing velocity. For fielding, both infield and outfield will be challenging with pop-ups and grounders. Pitchers will be throwing to a High School Varsity level catcher. Catchers will be catching from a Varsity Level Pitcher.
Lesson 4-10Again... More refinement and focus on areas that can use a bit extra development.
Lesson 2-3The next few lessons are where fundamentals begin to be refined. We should have a good idea of where to focus at this time.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonI will need to know how advanced the athlete is. I have access to both Club and High School Varsity level players, so I will want the athlete training with these players, so I can gauge their skill level.
Youth players
Working with kidsFor young players, the most important things are to make sure they learn the fundamentals and have fun.
Working with teenagersThere is a balance with teenage athletes between having fun, fundamentals, and learning the value of discipline. For example, this is the age where the athlete begins to learn what it takes to be competitive when playing on Club and High School baseball teams.
What you need to bringPlease bring any of your own equipment and a positive attitude!
What I can bringThe King of Kings Baseball Club can provide all the necessary equipment. However, it is recommended that if you have some of the equipment (e.g. globe, bat, catchers gear) you bring it.
