-Audio fundamentals (Understanding your Audio Interface, Wave forms, Microphone types, Stereo/Mono, Acoustics, Setting up your gear/DAW, I/O screens)
Software (DAW settings, Plug-in installation and organization, file management[NEVER get to the dreaded "missing files" error] Melodyne, Auto tune, EZ drummer, Kontakt, Fender Studio, Protools, Maschine.)
MIDI (Keyboard set up, MIDI fundamentals, making beats, working with MIDI tracks, editing MIDI, Piano Scroll, Drum Pads/Machines)
Recording/Editing/Mixing (Mic placement, recording multiple takes, Editing takes together and fixing errors, Punch-in, Crossfades, Mixing techniques, EQ, Compression, Reverb, Delay, Busses, Side Chain, Faders, Panning, Automation)
Sound Design (Synthesis, Oscillators, Filters, Envelopes, LFO, White/Pink noise, Sampling)

At first audio technology can feel like a distraction from being creative, once we've overcome the initial learning curve the technology can become a helpful tool for creativity/inspiration.
