All lessons are tailored to my studentsโ individual needs, so that means a large portion of your first lesson will involve getting a sense of your strengths and weaknesses as an actor, as well as your goals for your craft and your career. I love to get my students working from the first lesson, so you will be assigned a short scene to prepare and weโll use that to begin our explorations. I will take you step by step through a technical approach to your scene, and youโll walk away with some practical approaches to getting your work into your body as a beginner.
The following lessons allow you to get more comfortable in your work, both with yourself and with me. We begin to build a rhythm together, and delve even deeper into to your strengths and weaknesses. This is where my lessons begin to diverge the most. Techniques, exercises, and approaches are selected based on your unique needs, and feedback is tailored to what will move the needle the most toward your goals. Expect a similar workload to the first lesson.
We work towards ease and familiarity with one or two of the techniques weโve been focusing on. You will work with anywhere from three to five different scenes from lesson 1 to lesson 10, depending on your progress and needs. This is where results begin to come through in your auditions (or, if you havenโt had any, this is where we focus on getting you some!)
We shift focus to new techniques, new character archetypes, address your other weak spots, and more. An actorโs work is never done. Through periodic evaluations, self tapes, and reflections, we take a look at what is working for you in your craft and what is still not connecting, and we work towards strengthening those weak areas in following lessons.
