Pop. Rock. R&B. Jazz. Musical Theatre. And every song on the request list at one of the hottest piano bars in Los Angeles. I'm David Jayden Anthony — and before I tell you about my degrees, let me tell you about where I honed my skills as a commercial music performer: Tramp Stamp Granny's, Darren Criss' legendary North Hollywood piano bar. Every genre. Any song. Any key. On demand. That's the kind of real-world musical flexibility I bring into every lesson. My credentials: a Bachelor's in Songwriting & Music Production from Berklee College of Music (studying under Grammy Award-winning artists in lyric writing, composition, production, and mixing), and a Master's in Musical Theatre Writing from Berklee's NYC campus — where I studied with Broadway legends Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, Adam Gwon, and Michael Starobin. Before Orange County School of the Arts had a commercial music program, I built one from scratch — teaching Pop, Rock, Jazz, and R&B, writing original arrangements, and directing concerts for audiences of 2,000+. My students call me 'The Auto-Mechanic of the Voice' — because I diagnose fast and fix faster. I make abstract vocal concepts tangible. I help you understand text and storytelling at a level that transforms your performances — not just your technique. Whether you're a pop singer pushing too hard, a musical theatre performer hunting for the perfect audition song, or a songwriter who wants to finally record something extraordinary, I will move you faster than you thought possible. YES — you can use acting and storytelling technique to create brilliant pop and commercial music performances. That's not a theory. That's what I teach, every session. Rapid results. Real technique. Commercial music first, Broadway when you need it. SuperCoach — Top 3% on TeachMe.to. 5.0 rating. 30 years of teaching, performing, music-directing, and writing. Let's get to work.
"The lesson was quite thorough, with David exploring many techniques, and I appreciated how invested he was in helping me find my voice and achieve a breakthrough. Still, I think continuing to balance and control my own voice will be important moving forward. I’ll definitely look to return for the next lesson, since that lesson really highlighted his attention to detail and genuine commitment.

As a proud holder of a Master's in Performance and Production from Berklee and the winner of Apollo Amateur Night 2008, I firmly believe that music is the answer! Your voice matters, and music needs YOU. Let's embark on a learning journey together—I'm not just a teacher; I'm your biggest cheerleader. Note: Currently out of town and available for online lessons only.
"I found the lesson quite helpful, especially revisiting some theory which gave me a clearer understanding, though I think going back to singing and vocal techniques might be useful next time. Gillian has a calm approach that makes it easier to focus on improvement and learning. It's promising to see such thoughtful guidance, and I look forward to building on what we've started with her. Wouldn't hesitate to suggest giving Gillian a try if you're aiming for steady progress.

Hello! I'm a fourth year student at Bowling Green State University, studying Music Education. I hope to share my techniques that I've learned throughout my time here with you, and help you reach your full vocal potential! My main experience lies Classical and Choral music, but I also have years of expertise in Pop and Musical Theatre! I pride myself on making lessons a positive and safe space, where we make sure you're getting what you want out of our lessons, including repertoire.

I am a music teacher, pianist, singer and songwriter. I've been teaching music for a long time (30 years!). Why? Because I love music and I love teaching. The best moments in my work are when the students realize they can sing something that they couldn't do before. I love their expressions at that moment. During my singing lessons, you can learn how to use your 'instrument' ( your voice) properly: breathing, posture, pitch, resonance, agility, vocal range, and riffs. And how to apply that to any songs you are interested in. My teaching experience includes: private lessons, private studios in Madrid (Spain) and School of Rock (Wexford, PA).
"Laura was beyond kind and understanding with me! I learned so much in just one short hour, and more importantly, she made the lesson so much fun! I absolutely look forward to learning more from her.

Through my last six years of vocal coaching, I've tailored each curriculum depending on age, experience, and the student's goals. Everyone's progress and talents are unique to them, and it is my passion to pull out the uniqueness in each student and bring their musical endeavors to fruition. Your first lesson will begin with goal setting, vocal warmups, and running through a song you know. I specifically love working with aspiring artists and middle/high school students. "I loved how inclusive she was- it wasn’t just age and race it was all, loved her energy and how she could light up a room with just her laugh, loved how even if you hit a rough note she didn’t shame you for it.

"Alex Marlowe, Portland, OR I love Voice Lessons with Ellen. I feel like I am in a safe, positive space where I can grow as a singer. Her technical knowledge is incredible and everything is always clearly explained in a way that makes sense to me. Since I was a beginner when I first started lessons, we worked on vocal basics. Then I learned about all of the vocal techniques that the professionals use. I got to be part of choosing which topic of study was next at each session. It’s really fun and there is no expectation to be perfect so I can stretch and strengthen my voice without feeling nervous.
