The Rise of Pickleball in Florida

Broward County is the Top Pickleball City in Florida

Broward County leads the charge in Florida's pickleball scene. This year, the county held its first-ever pro pickleball tour — featuring over 700 competitors, the event represented a significant milestone for the sport in the region.

The growing presence of coaches in this region is also a clear indicator of pickleball's increasing popularity and community involvement.

Tampa's Remarkable Expansion

Tampa is another noteworthy city in Florida's pickleball landscape. By the end of 2023, Tampa plans to have 49 pickleball courts, a significant increase from its earlier count. This expansion reflects the city's dedication to catering to the growing demand for pickleball facilities and its commitment to fostering the sport at both casual and competitive levels.

Southwest Florida: The New Epicenter

Southwest Florida, particularly Naples, is rapidly becoming a major center for pickleball. The region's enthusiasm for the sport is evident, with Naples hosting the U.S. Open Pickleball Championships and continuously adding new courts. The transformation of tennis and basketball courts into pickleball courts in this region also highlights the sport's growing appeal and community integration.

Smaller Cities Making Big Waves

With around 2.51% of Florida’s pickleball coaches, cities like St. Petersburg, Pompano Beach, and Parkland are also contributing to the rise of the sport. Although smaller in comparison to major urban cities, these areas are crucial in popularizing pickleball, demonstrating the sport's broad appeal.

Emerging Pickleball Destinations in Florida

Emerging hotspots for pickleball, such as Winter Garden, Miami Beach, and Jacksonville, each housing 2.01% of the state's coaches, illustrate the sport's expanding footprint. These growing pickleball communities are a testament to the sport's appeal and potential for further growth in Florida.
